What is a survivor?
A cancer survivor is anyone who has ever received a diagnosis of cancer.  Survivorship acknowledges the potential for quality living after a cancer diagnosis.

Who can attend a People Living Through Cancer support group?
We have groups for survivors of all cancers, their family members and friends.

Why should I attend a support group?
Receiving a diagnosis of cancer can be devastating. You are faced with a multitude of life-changing issues and questions.   Research suggests that persons who participate in cancer support groups have improved quality of life.   Support groups offer hope and provide a safe place to share feelings and experiences.

How are the groups run?
Groups are led by specially trained volunteer facilitators who have had personal experience with cancer.  Everything said and heard in the group is confidential.  The group is supportive rather than judgmental and fosters respect for individual choices and experiences.

How do I become a facilitator?
PLTC holds facilitator training twice a year, in February and August.Check our website under the Events menu to learn more.

What is the cost of attending a group?
Groups are completely free of charge to all attendees.

How do I find the location of a group near me?
Please call PLTC at 505-242-3263 or 888-441-4439.  Our office staff will connect you to the best group for you.

There are no groups near me.  Now what?
People Living Through Cancer has a phone-in support group.  Call 505-242-3263 or 888-441-4439 for more information on our Teleconference Support Group.

How is People Living Through Cancer funded?
Generous supporters like you help fund PLTC.   In addition to private donations, our funding comes from organizations, businesses and grants.
